About our Leadership

There are specific principles of conduct for leading in the church (1 Timothy 3, Colossians 3-4, Ephesians 4-5), but rather than looking at these principles as just a long list of rules they should be understood as a way of viewing progress in becoming more like Christ. Webster City Church of Christ is a place to grow.

All of our leaders have areas where they need to grow, but at the same time are committed to high standards of holiness. Our desire for both grace and holiness lead us to develop the “Top 10 Traits of a Leader”. We believe that this list articulates the attitudes and actions of someone growing in Christ. Together grace, holiness and growth provide the foundation for people to lead in the church.

Top 10 Desired Traits of a Leader:

1.  People who are willing to be honest about their own personal struggles.   {Transparency}

2.  People who recognize that God is controlling the circumstances of their life to shape and mold them into the person He created them to be.   {Faith}

3.  Personal holiness in thoughts, actions and intentions (this does not mean they are perfect but are practicing spiritual disciplines to bring about maturity in Christ).   {Purity}

4.  People who have an understanding of their own passion, natural abilities and spiritual gifts.   {Self Understanding}

5.  People who have a desire to make a significant contribution to others and the Kingdom of God.   {Motivated}

6.  People who have demonstrated their desire to pursue Jesus Christ.   {Trajectory}

7.  People who are theologically sound in their understanding of the essentials (Jesus is how we are saved, the Bible is the inspired word of God, baptized for remission of sins).   {Orthodox}

8.  People who give generously of their time and resources.   {giving at least 10% of their income}

9.  People who are committed to reaching the unchurched   {evangelism is part of their life}

10.  People who are committed to the role community plays in discipleship.   {accountability}

The staff, elders, deacons, steering team and the creative arts team are all committed to these principals. We invite you to follow our example and help us make Webster City Church of Christ "A Place to Grow".
